New York Buzz Turn Away Explorers

The New York Buzz edged the Kansas City Explorers 20-18 Thursday night in World TeamTennis action at the SEFCU Arena.

The Buzz collected the first three sets led by 16-year-old Sloane Stephens who won her singles and helped to secure wins in mixed and women’s doubles.

With the Buzz in command, Alex Domijan held off Mike Russell in the overtime to clinch to Buzz victory.

The defending champ Buzz improve to 4-5 on the season having won three of their last four matches, and the playoffs are back within reach. In the home season finale tonight, the Buzz host the league-leading Springfield Lasers. The 9-0 Lasers are led by Martin Damm and Vania King.
