Martina Navratilova Visits Albany Tuesday Night

Tennis great Martina Navratilova will be in the Albany area for a special one night engagement Tuesday night. Navratilova and her visiting Boston Lobsters will face the New York Buzz at the SEFCU Arena on the University of Albany campus.

Navratilova is regarded by many one of the greatest female tennis players of all time. During her career, Navratilova has amassed 167 career titles, including 18 Slam titles in 32 finals. She also won 177 career doubles including a record 31 coming in Grand Slams.

* Her “Golden Run” from December 21, 1981 through January 24, 1987 (61-month period) saw her win 71 titles, 12 of 17 Grand Slam singles titles (including six straight) and 432 of 446 matches - a 0.969 win-percentage, losing only 14 matches to nine players
* Her doubles record with Shriver was unprecedented: they won their 79th doubles title together at the 1992 US Hardcourts; won 21 Grand Slams together between 1981-89
