July 13 - Tennis legend Jim Courier's first ever appearance in Schenectady was spoiled by the visiting Newport Beach Breakers who defeated the NY Buzz 25-15 Wednesday evening at Central Park. Courier, a four-time Slam winner and recent Hall of Fame inductee, proved no match for the Breakers' Ramon Delgado who defeated the American star first in doubles and then in singles 5-2. Delgado continued to play well adding a mixed doubles win to put the Breakers up 15-5 after three sets. The Lady Buzz played well but couldn't overcome the early deficit. The Buzz now get a much-needed day off Thursday before welcoming the Delaware Smash Friday night to Schenectady. Tickets are available at 518-378-BUZZ.
